About Us

Skip Sleeper is a native to the Brattleboro area and spent most of his career working in long-term care.  He has always been a maker and tinkerer and began work out of high school as a cook.  Later, as a chef, he got his degree in foodservice management and worked as a foodservice director in many of the area’s nursing homes.

Skip’s interest in woodworking and just “puttering” never waivered and for the past twenty years part of his professional duties included project management and maintenance services.  He also built the family’s vacation home and did projects for himself and friends.

Upon leaving long term care, he started Beck and Call Handyman Services to fulfill a need in the community for those property owners who need help with the smaller projects that larger contractors are unable to take on.  The Beck and Call motto “service is our craft” reflects Skip’s commitment to satisfying clients by first listening very carefully to their narrative before jumping in with hammer and screwdriver. Developing a comprehensive plan for each project, no matter how small, is vital to ensure the client is in control of their project all the way to the finish line.  Communication is the most important tool in the box and Skip keeps clients apprised during each phase of a project using the communication method of their choice.  Client control of a project is paramount to its success!

Quality work at a fair price is easy to say but hard to find.  Beck and Call will prove to our clients that this isn’t a fairy tale or just something others enjoyed in the “good ole’ days”.  It still exists among those local businesses that concern themselves with having a decent reputation among their neighbors.  Skip will work hard, treat you fairly and be at your beck and call!
